BREAKING: Northwestern football to play Central Michigan in Detroit’s GameAbove Bowl
On Sunday, Northwestern football announced that it would play the Central Michigan Chippewas in the GameAbove Sports Bowl, to be held at Detroit’s Ford Field on Dec. 26 at 12:00 p.m. CT. The GameAbove Bowl, previously known as the Motor City Bowl, is played annually between a Big Ten and MAC team.
The Central Michigan-Northwestern matchup should be a boon for GameAbove Sports Bowl organizers. The game's best attendance was in 2019, when 34,765 fans showed up to watch Eastern Michigan-Pittsburgh. The second-best attendance was in 2015, when 34,217 fans showed up to watch CMU-Minnesota.
